The Real Living HER Open House List for February 5, 2012 is not as dinky as I thought it would be... since Sunday February 5, 2012 is Super Bowl Sunday after all. The game does not start until 6:30 ... but people need to get ready for Super Bowl parties, or start parties early?

This graph shows average home prices in the Worthington schools for the past 15 months through May 2011. The average active price, the green line in the graph, Worthington homes for sale, $253,000 in May 2011 was down 7% from May 2010. The average sale price (Worthington homes sold) of $219,000 was up 1.4% from last year. The graph and market report for Worthington home prices are single family properties only.

The zip code has neighborhoods in Columbus and Dublin schools but the largest part of it 43235's neighborhoods are in Worthington City schools including some of the homes in Brookside Woods, Stilson Highlands, Worthington Hills and the Worthingview neighborhoods among others.

There are also homes in Worthington schools with Dublin, Powell and Westerville addresses, including Olde Sawmill (part of the Olde Sawmill neighborhood is Dublin schools), Seven Oaks, Worthington Highlands and Worthingwoods among others. Can you send belated Groundhog Day cards?

Buckeye Chuck in Marion Ohio did not see his shadow yesterday morning so we will NOT have another six week of winter in Columbus, Ohio. Of course we really have not had much winter weather at all this year.

Punxatawny Phil did see his shadow this morning so he is predicting six weeks more of winter. I hear Buckeye Chuck has a better record when it comes to accuracy. According to people who keep track of this. Or can remember year to year anyway, what the rodent said and what the weather from February into mid March was like.

The number of homes for sale in December 2011 was down 11.6% from a year ago. The number of home sales in Dublin during December 2011 was exactly the same as in December 2010.

Dublin, Ohio schools includes properties in Franklin, Delaware and Union Counties. The most recognizable Dublin area has two zip codes, 43016 and 43017. However not all homes in the Dulin, Ohio 43016 and Dublin, Ohio 43017 zip codes are in Dublin schools. If Dublin or another Central Ohio school district is important to you, double check the property tax records and the school district attendance area of any home you are interested in. There are homes with a Dublin mailing address in Columbus, Hilliard and Worthington schools... perhaps there are homes with a Dublin address in other school districts too, it's complicated.

Neighborhoods in Dublin schools include Ballymead, Campden Lakes, Donegal Cliffs, Dublinshire, Hawks Nest, Muirfield Village, Olde Sawmill (or part of the neighborhood is in Dublin schools, the other part is in Worthington schools), Riverside Green, Riverside Hills, Tartan Ridge, Tartan West and many others. There are homes in the Dublin City School District that have Columbus and Powell mailing addresses. Perhaps others.

The homes in the graph and market report include homes with addresses that are not "Dublin, Ohio" mailing addresses also. Examples include parts of the Brookside Woods neighborhoods as well as Brookside Colony, Oakridge Meadows, Sawmill Forest, Summitview Woods and Whispering Pines. There are subdivisions including Brookside Woods and Olde Sawmill that have homes in more than one school district, in those two examples some homes are in Dublin schools and others are in the Worthington City School District.

Columbus Ohio: Beating the Winter Blues

Columbus Ohio is not always sunny in the winter (there's an understatement.) I was glad to see sunshine on Monday morning before the rain came. I should have run out and grabbed some pictures but I did not. I need a sunnier photo of Worthington for my Facebook profile.

Winter in Columbus Ohio is "Kinda" Blue

I have a new "Fresh Facts" from First Watch in my mailbox from their Sun eClub this morning. This month (maybe the Sun eClub newsletter comes out more or less often?) is about "Beat the Winter Blues in 5 Easy Steps."

Lack of sun can make people sad. Lack of sun can make people eat comfort food to feel better according to the First Watch newsletter. The newsletter is written for all of the chains locations? I believe the restaurant chain started in Florida but it is as if this e-newsletter is speaking to central Ohio.

First Watch's "Beat the Winter Blues in 5 Easy Steps" are

Get enough sleep - they recommend 7 to 9 hours of sleep and 30 hours of heart pumping exercise
Eat lighter fare
Eat whole grains
Eat more fruits and vegtables
Don't be a hermit "

Throughout the newsletter selections for lighter fare, whole grains, fruits and vegtables on the First Watch menu are highlighted. I am sure you can read the newsletter online (link above to their website.) There is a lot more detail about what each of the 5 steps means too.

Columbus Ohio - First Watch locations

I have not been to the Worthington Mall First Watch location as much...I believe it was the first, First Watch in central Ohio a long time ago. I remember long waits on Sunday mornings even when the mall was headed downhill. I guess we've gone there a couple of times in the last year on a Sunday, early and it was not a long wait. Now with the mall being revitalized.... and is now called 'The Shops at Worthington Place.' Weekday should be OK at First Watch in Worthington even though the mall is getting more and more tenants. The First Watch at The Shops at Worthington place is on the east side of the mall, you can use the east entrance. In nice weather there is outside dining. That is only going to get nicer as the mall is remodeled inside and out.

We sometimes go to the Polaris area First Watch location at the Polaris Neighborhood Center (east of I 71) 2103 Polaris Parkway, Columbus, Ohio 43240. There is usually a wait but not as long as what I remember at the Worthington First Watch.

First Watch restaurants are every where in central Ohio. The Hilliard First Watch is at Mill Run Plaza. There are First Watch locations in Upper Arlington, Dublin, German Village, New Albany and now a Reynoldsburg / Pickerington location. The First Watch website (link above) has address on where each location is.

Columbus Ohio is in central Ohio.

Inventory went down and home sales went up. Hilliard home sales were up in December 2011. Sales were up from a year ago and up from November 2011.

Hilliard home price update- the December average sale price was up too! The December average sale price was $192,000, an increase of 7.3% over November 2011.

The number of Hilliard homes for sale were down 9.5% from December 2010 and down 12.3% from November 2011. The 50 homes sold in December 2011 was up 8.7% from a year ago... and up 38.9% from November 2011.

The homes for sale and sold in Hilliard in the graph are all those in the Hilliard City School District. Hilliard school neighborhoods included Ballantrae, Britton Farms, Brookfield Village, Cross Creek, Darby Glen, Golfview Woods, Hilliard Green, Hoffman Farms, Mill Run, Ridgewood, The Glen, Westbrook and others. The neighborhoods are all in the Hilliard City School District and are in the Cities of Columbus, Dublin, or Hilliard or unincorprated areas (townships) within the Hilliard school district boundaries. Homes in the Worthington Corporation Limit, sometimes referred to as "Worthington Proper" include Colonial Hills, Medick Estates, Old Worthington, Olentangy Hills, Rush Creek Village, Worthington Estates, Worthingway and other neighborhoods.

Riverlea is a small village in the Worthington City School District. Riverlea has a 43085 mailing address. Worthington provides fire and police service to Riverlea but Riverlea remains a village.
