Happy Groundhogs Day from Columbus Ohio
Buckeye Chuck in Marion should be up soon to let US know whether we get six more weeks of winter or an early spring in Central Ohio.
Groundhogs are local who is the ground hog for your part of the country? What did your groundhog predict for 2008?

Well, six more weeks of winter for us. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's sunny out and I can get some good photos today.
We are going to have an early Spring in Central Ohio. 7:42 AM it was cloudy and Buckeye Chuck did not see his shadow! Yeah!
Thanks for the comments. Don't gloat Neal!
I guess punxsutawney phil saw his shadow this AM. Fran the title man has a post about punxsutawney phil this AM.... Thanks for the comment Chris...
Maureen F. Are you in the Howell MI groundhogs zone? Or is there a groundhog forecaster closer? Someone in Brighton blogged about a Groundhogs Day event in Howell MI this morning... their groundhog sleeps in...
A vacation somewhere warm will be nice for you.
I am surprised the Columbus Zoo does not hire a groundhog weather forecaster of it's own and usurp Buckeye Chucks authority....
I Twittered Happy Groundhogs Day to your Jay this AM. I started to ask if you had a NH groundhog but then I thought New Hampshire? No way could they get off that easy... New Hampshire, VT, Maine, upstate NY, northern PA, Michigan, Wisconsin, MN, ND, SD... I don't know about west of there but I am sure the northern states until you get to the Pacific NW have 6 weeks more of winter... have no hope of only half a winter most years... it would be a freak occurrence or serious global warming for the northern fringe of the US to not see a full six weeks more of winter. I hope WE get the weather Buckeye Chuck promised us... I don't think he even covers northern Ohio. I am sure Cleveland Carole will see a lot more snow being in the snow belt.
I was thrilled with early springs when I moved to Ohio... I started out in Northern Ohio in Akron... even that was so much nicer weather-wise than Wisconsin.
Gary we see groundhogs along the roads here all the time... sometimes alive. I am sure they are in the woods and fields too. They are a very fat little animal and they stand up on their hind legs... but walk on all four.
don't rub it in Jim.... mild winter! P. Phil in PA saw his shadow... so his jursdiction gets 6 weeks more of winter.
Maureen,
Just think, we are going to get a sneek peek at spring this week. They say it is going to be sunny and may hit 70 degrees
Myrtle Beach! Welcome to ActiveRain Joseph. I have a poll about retirement or relocating to someplace warmer on one of my blog whether people in Central Ohio want to retire to Florida, the Carolina's, Arizona or elsewhere... very few votes but it is more Carolina and AZ than I expected and less Florida. I know a lot of people from our area go to both the Carolinas and Florida for vacations.
