Delaware County, Ohio Population Growth

Delaware County is still number one.... in growth in central Ohio and in the state.  With 1.8% growth according to the In a Columbus Dispatch article titled 'Central Ohio Central Ohio Drives Ohio's Population Growth.'

Delaware County is still number one "percentage-wise"...  anyway.  Franklin County added most of the total population in central Ohio.

According to the Census Bureau estimate released last week, "Delaware County added 3,103 people from July 2010 to July 2011, the Census Bureau estimated."  Franklin County added over 13,000 people in the same time period according to the Census Bureau, a lower percentage of the total county population.  Six of seven central Ohio counties added population during the time period.  Without the growth in central Ohio the state would show a loss of population.

Bill LaFayette, owner of Regionomics, a Columbus-based economic-consulting firm is quoted in the Columbus Dispatch article written by Doug Caruso.  The Columbus Dispatch says:

"LaFayette cautioned against celebrating that as a win for central Ohio over the rest of the state.

"Our economy is based on the economic health and growth of the rest of the state, as well,” he said. “We can’t just congratulate ourselves that we’re doing well; we have to worry that other areas in Ohio are not doing well because that impacts our ability to grow and thrive.”

The rate of growth in Delaware County, Ohio was not as great as in the period of 2000 to 2010 according to the newspaper article.

Not so great, but still growth. I can't say the same about our area and Florida as a whole. The report I read just a few days ago stated that first time in several years there is growth. It was either flat or even negative in the last few years.

So, you are still doing OK

It kind of just is, what it "is."
