It's Talk like a Pirate weekend at the Santa Maria in Downtown Columbus, September 17 to the 18th, 2011.
I took these photos a couple of years ago when we went down to the Santa Maria on Talk Like a Pirate Day.
The Santa Maria website promises:

The official National? International? "Talk Like a Pirate Day" is always the 19th of September, we'll be way ahead of the rest if Columbus says "Arrrrr!" all weekend!
Here's a site to help you with the words to use to Talk like a pirate
Language - Look for the page titled "Why talk like a pirate - and how"
"Ahoy!" means "Hello!"
"Arrr!" is multipurpose...
Inquiring minds probably says Why? Why Talk like a Pirate?
The page titled "Why talk like a pirate - and how" says:
"The point is, there is no point."

Independents Day on Saturday.

"Community Open House" at COSI on Sunday

Maureen, I was not aware of Talk like a pirate weekend. Interesting information. Thanks for sharing.
I've lived in Columbus most of my life and wasn't aware of this particular event. Very interesting.
Gita today is Talk like a Pirate day? I saw a Tweet saying it is tomorrow but I believe it is always the 19th. Our local floating museum is just making use of an asset floating on the Scioto River in downtown Columbus. I was downtown on Saturday but never made it that far west. I saw a few pirate re-enactors walking around further east, there was lots going on downtown this weekend. I would think pirate re-enactors would be hard to come by in the midwest. We have lots of Civil War re-enactors... but I would think pirate re-enactors would be in Florida... maybe SC and Georgia coasts....
Bernadine The Santa Maria celebrating it is probably only 4 or 5 years old. I had never been to the Santa Maria until Pirate Weekend 2009. I had seen it there off the bank at Red, White and Boom etc. knew it was a floating museum.
