Wow-lots of categories, Maureen!  I do like how they don't use the word "FAILING".  Our weakest school academically in Lafayette was totally turned around in two years so there is hope that improvement can be made with the right approach.  Bravo for the Buckeye Valley Schools for their excellence in education!

I am glad they do not use the word "Failing" too...  Columbus school district got "Continuous Improvement" this year.  I remember when it was either "Academic Watch" or "Academic Emergency." Columbus is the largest school district in the state.  There are schools within the Columbus City School District that receieved the "Excellent" designation, perhaps some with the "Excellent with Distinction" designation as well.  Thanks for the comment Bruce.

I think this is similar to our system in Florida but the state places the grade as A through F.  Makes it easier for some of us to understand I guess!

I think of them as A+, A, B, C, D, and F... in fact when I do a post about a school or school district getting the Excellent with Distinction,  designation, I use a headline saying they got an A+ .  Excellent with Distinction is too long to go with most of our school districts names.

Our schools have so much to do with the quality of life in our areas, especially our future since they are educating our children.  It's wonderful when the schools are performing in an excellent manner and get good scores.

Maureen, I have been lucky when I grew up my parents instilled a value system in me and made sure I went to good schools. I found that Class Size and Parental Intrest helped in my education. Yes it is critical that the Schools are performing in a more than acceptable level, but to accomplish that you need the parents to be involved not only at home but in school as well.
