Furnace Filter Friday... brought to you by Maureen McCabe of Real Living HER (previously HER Realtors.) March came in like a lamb this year. We still need the furnace on but there are days with the promise of Spring.
March to do list Add changing your furnace filter to the list below. It is the first Friday of the month, so it is Furnace Filter Friday. A reminder to change your furnace filter.
The image is a Real Living home maintenance email program, Find. Feel. Know.

The Real Living list of things to do in March:
"In like a lion and out like a lamb, March offers the perfect opportunity to inspect home elements before the onset of spring fever.
-Inspect walls and ceilings for cracks or bulges - patch and paint as necessary.
-Hire a professional to check your water heater.
-Check basement and crawl space for moisture or leakage after wet weather.
-Examine exterior fascia and trim for deterioration.
-Repair cracked, broken or uneven driveways and sidewalks.
-Inspect your stairs and railings for any loose sections."
Changing your furnace filter monthly? Consider this your reminder to change your furnace filter in March.
One of my FAVORITE home inspection bloggers, Jay Maranich wrote recently of Seasonal Maintenance:
Air conditioner - if you don't have an annual tune-up, check your filter (which you should do monthly) and clean or replace as needed, clean bushes and growth from around the compressor so it can breathe properly and adjust your ducts to send more air pressure to the upper level.
Jay a home inspector in Virginia recommends an annual tune-up of your "boiler." Not a lot of "boilers" in Central Ohio but this might be a good time to have your heating and cooling system serviced:
"Boiler - surprisingly, now is a good time to have your annual tune-up on a boiler because it is often cheaper now than in the fall and your technician is likely to not be so busy. "
Jay's Seasonal Maintenance list is really a "deferred maintenance" list.
You have to wonder since we are having mild weather at the beginning of March will we have snow later in the month?

I am pretty sure we need to change the filter. Thanks for the reminder.
Perfect timing. I have the a/c serviceman in my home as I type making my sure my system is ready for the summer. A fresh filter on the first Friday is excellent advice.
:- )
Good point.Every now and again you run across someone that just pulls the filter out and figures it's fine.
How would you like to be breathing in the air from this furnace?
Needless to say, full service on furnace clean, tune, evaluation....and have the ducts cleaned out.
Wow what a picture above. Never seen what it could look like to not clean up or have a filter in.
Stephen that's ugly!!! Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for stopping by Bob.
Once Re-Blogging gets fixed I will be looking for HVAC posts from inspectors to Re-Blog. I do a furnace post every Friday... only the first Friday of the month is Furnace Filter Friday.
Thanks again for the kind reminder, Maureen.
