Here's a great slideshow geologically, historically speaking going way, way back long before the park was reclaimed, before Columbus was founded, before modern Indian history, way back when Ohio was underwater... The Whittier Peninsula. Bringing Nature Downtown .
I've been watching the progress of the park on Whittier Peninsula for a few years. I am going to go discover the new park for myself this weekend.

Maureen,
This is quite an journey into the history starting with the planet formation. Nubers ike 570 million years are so mind boggling, that I can't feel the connection. My scale hardly goes beyond just a century, if not less.
Having a park instead of wasted land along the water is good for for the nature and nature lovers. I think nobody argues wiith that.

It was so interesting... I loved the building. The grounds need time. We walked all over, well not in the impound lot.
