Worthington Ohio - Memorial Day 2007

I must admit I watched the parade from a front lawn of a house in the Village of Riverlea.  Riverlea is surrounded by Worthington and the Olentangy river.

Bands from both Worthington Kilbourne and Thomas Worthington as well as the OSU Alumni Band and a bagpipe band were in the parade this year. There were a number of Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, a swim club, pom pom girls and baton twirlers from Central Ohio in the parade.

Mark took most of them.  I took the first few but then gave up possession of the camera.  He is a better photographer.  It was neat being up above on a hill looking down.  The last few years my pictures were from street level at the south end of the parade in the City of Columbus (other side of the street is still Worthington) and the most notable thing in the photos is the muffler shop sign in the background.  On the way home we'd drive by my friend Erics house, honk the horn and wave up at the people on the hill.  This year I invited myself.  Thanks Eric (Eric has a mostly inactive ActiveRain account.)

Thanks for the comment Gena.

You just can't beat a small town Parade! We don't have enough of them anymore.

I love the Worthington Memorial Day parade.  I think this was the 87th annual? One of the national  news shows did a story about Memorial Day in the 80's or 90's and Worthington's parade and ceremonies were in it.

My office walked in the Worthington 4th of July Parade for Worthington's  Bicentennial in 2003.  Worthington doesn't usually have a 4th of July Parade, I think that was our last parade.

We had done the Memorial Day Parade for a number of years with our companies caliope... we are probably the only company with a caliope

Maureen... this is a really well done Show. I lived in Worthington for a time back in 1981-2, so it brought back some memories for me.

Thanks.  Someone said you had some connection to Ohio.  Probably same parade pretty much back then... except only one Worthington high school....

We had hoped to get down for this year's Worthington parade because of the Wells Fargo stage coach. But we didn't. Love your pictures!
