A new era starts Monday...
HomeGard® of Ohio has been around for a long time... since 1974. I was sorta sad when we got an email that HomeGard® is changing. If you have a HomeGard® of Ohio policy on your home, effective Monday you will have a HomeGard HMS policy.

HomeGard® of Ohio was unique in that the company affiliated with Real Living HER (formerly HER Realtors®) was locally owned and operated. Home buyers and home sellers had a choice of local contractors to use for covered repairs to the mechanical systems in their homes. Home warranties are very commonly used in Central Ohio when homes are being sold. The warranty can protect the seller during the listing period and be offered to the buyer for their first year of home ownership.
It's about "peace of mind."
On an old Home Maintenance page on my website MaureenMcCabe.com I said of the HomeGard® service contract:
"HOMEGARD, a one year home warranty contract, removes those surprises.

The HMS Home Warranty has been around since 1980. They've got a pledge about "peace of mind" also....

Hi Maureen... I like using locally owned companies... and I do believe that it contributes to peace of mind! Hopefully HMS will live up to the standards set by HomeGard.
I would certainly think it was in many ways a positive for consumers and local contractors...
