Franklin County Back to School 2011  Didn't school just let out for summer?

Do Central Ohio schools including those in Franklin County start earlier and earlier every year?  This year the Columbus Dispatch had an article saying Grandview Heights and Westerville schools are starting earlier and why.  The rest of the schools in Franklin County the first day of school seems pretty similar to the last few years.

Growing up, did you go back to school much later?  After Labor Day?  Not a single Franklin County school district here starts after Labor Day 2011.  This is just north, northwest, northeast suburbs and Columbus City Schools though...

Franklin County Ohio Schools Out for Summer - 2011

Franklin County Ohio Schools Out for Summer... I can't believe Dublin schools last day is tomorrow?  Other Indian Springs Elementary School - Columbus schoolsschool districts last day will be coming up quickly.   Franklin County Back to School 2010

More kids out in Central Ohio neighborhoods playing for the next few months so a reason to drive more carefully.

Central Ohio School Districts

on my site.  The property search on my site (Maureen McCabe  - Real Living HER or MaureenMcCabe.com for short) has wonderful information on schools for every property now.

The Columbus City School District has a big note on their site about their calendar.

"NOTE: The last day of the 2010-2011 school year is Thursday, June 2, 2011"  for those on a traditional school year calendar.

Plain Local (New Albany ) School's  site's calendar says:

June 3 is the last day for students "(Except Day, Taft & Glenwood)" and then that June 6, 2011 is "Last Day for Students at Day, Taft & Glenwood" unless  they need "Make-Up Days for Inclement Weather (If needed): June 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10"

Worthington Schools Bluffsview ElementaryEach school district and the individual school would have communicated to their students any changes due to inclement weather or other school day cancellations earlier in the year.  If a school districts last day of school affects you personally like you are not sending your kids to school...  verify the info for yourself with your school district.

Is Indian Springs Elementary School Haunted?

  • is indian springs elementary school haunted

Indian Springs Elementary School - Columbus City School DistrictSomeone searched for that info and ended up on my site ColumbusBestBlog.com I must have blogged about the Indian Springs Elementary School in Columbus City Schools...

I doubt they found the answer to the question on my site.

Q. Is Indian Springs Elementary School haunted?

Answering the question with a question... or a series of questions?

Q. The Indian Springs Elementary School in Columbus?

Q. Or the Indian Springs Elementary School in the Olentangy Local School District?

Q. Or is there another Indian Springs Elementary School in another Central Ohio School district?   At first I was thinking Dublin had an Indian Springs Elementary School as well but the older elementary school in Dublin on Bridge Street is Indian Run Elementary.  Of course Dublin or Muirfield are haunted by Chief Leatherlip's ghost... or so goes the ghost story.  Muirfield to Riverside Drive to Bridge Street is a lot of ground for anyone ghost to haunt... The Indian Run Elementary School builiding in Dublin is an old school building by Dublin standards.

Both Indian Springs Elementary on the northside of Columbus and Indian Springs Elementary School in the Indian Springs Elementary School - Columbus City School DistrictOlentangy schools got an Excellent grade from the State of Ohio for the 2009 to 2010 School Year... so if one of them has a ghost it is not affecting academics.

Actually looking at a post about the Columbus Ohio school from last summer the Indian Springs Elementary School in Columbus got a grade of Excellent with Distinction.

It's just a funny question... "is indian springs elementary school haunted"

I assume the Indian Springs Elementary School in Olentangy Local Schools is a new building...  can new builidings be haunted?

The photos here are Indian Springs Elementary School on the north side of Columbus, on E. Henderson Rd.  Columbus Ohio, obviously an older building.  I love the detail.

Q. Is Indian Springs Elementary School haunted?

Which one?

50 E. Henderson Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214

3828 Home Road, Powell, Ohio 43065

Worthington Haunted House?

Haunted Ohio lots of places

Worthington is old... A Worthington Ghost Story

MLS: "Worthington Schools - Columbus Taxes" What Does That Mean?

Columbus Corporation LimitThe MLS* remarks say the home is in "Worthington Schools - Columbus taxes"

or an ad on a Central Ohio home online or in print says the home is in "Worthington Schools - Columbus taxes"  ...What does that mean?

Worthington schools

What does that mean?  "Worthington Schools - Columbus Taxes" ...that means the home is in the City of Columbus (Columbus Corporation Limit)  and the Worthington City School District.  The Ohio school districts were set  long before much of Central Ohio was developed.  The school district boundaries existed and the area was largely rural.  Later Columbus annexed land in the Worthington school district.  The land remained in the Worthington school district although it was annexed into the City of Columbus.

Columbus annexed land.  Worthington, Westerville etc.  did not annex land.  Or not as aggressively as the city of Columbus, or not in that direction.   The land in the suburban school districts was in the suburban (other than the Columbus school district) district when it was rural, undeveloped.  The land was annexed into the City of Columbus, lots of it.

Search for Columbus Ohio homes by school district

Dublin schools, etc.

There are areas in Dublin schools, Hilliard schools, Westerville schools,  the South Western City School District and other districts where the houses and neighborhoods are in the City of Columbus but a suburban school district.

Columbus Corporation Limit

The idea is that Columbus property  taxes are more affordable.  Residents of the areas that are described as "Worthington Schools - Columbus taxes, the portion of the millage that is for schools is the rate for the Worthington City School District.

"Worthington Schools Columbus taxes"

The Worthington school district made an agreement in 1968 with The City of Columbus / the Columbus City Worthington Schools Liberty Elementary School District.   Worthington Schools are Not Included

There was a change in boundaries later...  when the brewery was built just inside 270 or so I've heard.  It affected neighborhoods on the south end the Worthington school district as well as land near the brewery on Schrock Road.  There was a land swap?

Win - Win Agreement - 1986

The City of Columbus / the Columbus City School District made an agreement in 1986 with a larger number of Central Ohio school districts including Dublin, Hilliard, Westerville.  It is a huge area.  A huge number of homes in the City of Columbus are in school districts other than the Columbus City School District.  The Win - Win Agreement an article in the Columbus Dispatch in 2010.

*The MLS is the multiple listing service, in this case, the Columbus Board of REALTORS® multiple listing service.

The Search Columbus homes by school district link above will take you to the Real Living HER home search on my website.  You can search homes in Columbus, Dublin, Hilliard, Westerville, Worthington as well as the Central Ohio school districts that do not have homes in the Columbus Corporation limit.  You can also search homes in the other Central Ohio corporations, Worthington, Dublin, etc. You will be offered the opportunity to receive listings directly from the Columbus Board of REALTORS MLS.

Yes occasionally you see someone say "__________ Schools - Columbus Taxes" and the house is in a township (unincorporated area but has a Columbus mailing address...) it's bizarre when the township has higher taxes than_____ .  It's the thought that counts right?

Columbus Ohio Metro student "dorks got you Facebook"

A Metro student, Kelly Hooper is quoted in a Columbus Dispatch article:  "You're on Facebook, right?" she said. "Well, dorks got you Facebook."

Facbeook Like

Metro High School is a STEM school.  STEM is an acronym for the words, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Metro graduate Meagan Jones did a talk at TEDx Columbus in October 2010.  Meagan wanted to get into an art program in the Columbus City School District  but instead Meagan went to Metro and is now studying history at The Ohio State University.

TED Talks are about "Ideas worth spreading."  TED is an acronym for Technology, Entertainment and Design.  For some reason I want those E's in STEM and TED to be education.

TEDx Columbus 2010 "What's next" or was it a question? "What's next? hmmmm "What's next" was the second TEDx Columbus. All of the Columbus TEDx talks are available, online. Both 2009 and 2010.

SMART girl... SMART is an acronym for ....  no at least here it is not an acronym!

The "Well, dorks got you Facebook." quote is from  'Science 'dorks' see need 'in the Columbus Dispatch last week.   The Columbus Dispatch article written was written by Regina Garcia Cano.  Columbus Dispatch's Cano is quoting Metro sophomore Kelly Hooper about "dorks"  "Well, dorks got you Facebook."

If you are watching this on the Discover Columbus Facebook page you are going to have to click on this link to watch the TEDx video:

More about Metro from their website:

"It is a high school operated by the Educational Council – a confederation of the 16 public school districts in Franklin County. Students who attend Metro will be concurrently enrolled in their home district and will remain a part of the public school system in Franklin County."
