Columbus crossword the suburbs...

I work primarily in Northern Franklin County and Southern Delaware County, so those were easier for me to think of clues ... but I dipped south for a few of these Columbus suburbs.

My apologies to the folks in the community in number 4 across.... all I could come up with was "It's somewhere south of Columbus."  I guess a couple of others are pretty bad and I forgot at least one important northwest Columbus suburb.  Itty bitty but I should have included it.

Here's the answers Central Ohio Suburbs.  Edit ooops I'd have sworn I saved the key to the answers... but I can't find the file.  I will have to post the answers won't I? Stay Tuned.

Parking Garages in Central Ohio Suburbs

carGahanna built a parking garage when they built Creekside.

A Columbus Dispatch article written by Martin Rozenman  Parking garages popping up in the suburbs   does not mention the garage at Easton.  Because the article is about "suburbs" and while Easton is suburban it is NOT a suburb.  The Columbus Dispatch says:

"Planners are redesigning their town centers into more attractive, walkable locations that recall small-town America's past. They plot compact collections of stores, restaurants and offices that promote the mantra of the '00s: Live, work and play here.

But where do workers, shoppers and residents park their cars?"

Grandview will have parking structures in Grandview Yards. Upper Arlington is considering one at Kingsdale.

Not mentioned in the Columbus Dispatch article, Dublin and Worthington... two towns that I have thought since I moved here (1990)  should build a parking garage. Worthington and Dublin both have great little downtowns which could be even greater with some extra parking.   Tuck one in behind High St. High Street in both cases.  They could attract and keep more retailing if there was accessible parking.

I believe Worthington has more downtown parking NOW than it did 18 years ago.

Westerville has a parking garage at the library.  No plans for more.  Hilliard does not want one.  Or want one.

Westerville and Gahanna on Top 100 US Cities List

OhioCNNMoney.com recently honored 100 Small Cities in the US as Top Cities:

"Best places to live   Best Places to Live: Top 100

"For this year's list we focused on smaller places that offered the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a real sense of community"

Included were two Central Ohio cities, Westerville and Gahanna.  I wrote about it on ColumbusBestBlog.com a few days ago - Westerville and Gahanna in top 10 US Cities (Small Cities.)

Westerville is number 46 in the 100 Best Cities in the US on the CNNMoney.com list.

Gahanna is number 96 in the 100 Best Cities in the US on the CNNMoney.com list.

Westerville and Gahanna are suburbs on the northeast side of Columbus, outside of 270.   Watch videos from Real Living about each of these communities.

"Gahanna - Columbus, OH. Traditional, diverse and family-oriented are some of the words that describe Gahanna."

"Westerville - Columbus, OH. Westerville has many historical homes and an abundance of specialty shops and other attractions."

Business First of Columbus said of the CNNMoney.com focus in 2007:

"The magazine focused this year on smaller cities with populations between 7,500 and 50,000, leaving out Columbus, last year's eighth-ranked best big city in which to live. Criteria this year included education scores, crime rates, cost-of-living data, housing affordability, racial diversity and health-care access. "

There is a list of 10 Best Big Cities, with the usual suspects... NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, California Cities.

Gahanna and Westerville are more affordable than Worthigton, New Albany, Powell, Bexley and many other Columbus suburbs.
