Greetings from Columbus Ohio

Columbus Ohio as a postcardHappy Columbus Day if you celebrate it.  Does your city celebrate Columbus Day?  Or does your city celebrate an alternate holiday to honor Native Americans?

Columbus Day is a federal holiday.

Columbus Ohio, the largest city named after Christopher Columbus celebrates Columbus Day.  There is no Columbus Day Parade in town though... Columbus Day... I love a parade   The City of Columbus has a wreath laying ceremony this morning... at the statue of Christopher Columbus at City Hall, downtown Columb.  Central Ohio celebrates Columbus with Experience Columbus Days.

Whose off work today for Columbus Day in Columbus Ohio?

Your mailman, the garbage men, most government employees.... From my understanding schools are open in Central Ohio with the exception of Columbus State University.

If you are in Columbus and lucky enought to have the day off of work, today is the last day of Experience Columbus Days.  If you are in Columbus and have the day off, you are in for another gorgeous day, how did Experience Columbus and our local meteorologists (weather folk)  arrange the weather for Experience Columbus Days so well.

In "Greetings from ..." pictures of Columbus Ohio from the Columbus Dispatch has "Postcard-quality photos picture city at its best."

Happy Columbus Day from Columbus Ohio!

Experience Columbus

Columbus Day... I love a parade

There is no Columbus Day Parade in Columbus Ohio.  There has not been a Columbus Day Parade in Columbus in years.*

Instead there is Experience Columbus Days... we can play in our own backyard... visitors can come play in our backyard... thanks to Experience Columbus, you can visit popular Columbus venues at discounted prices. Experience Columbus Days  - Come Play in our  Backyard Experience Columbus Days runs Friday through Monday.

If you need a parade to make your Columbus Day weekend complete there is a Parade on Sunday afternoon for the Columbus Italian Festival (Columbus was Italian....)  2:00 P.M.

If you need to do something downtown on Columbus Day....

Go to the Columbus Day Wreath Laying Ceremony - the 53rd annual at the Columbus statue at City Hall.

Visit the Santa Maria on the Scioto River

Last year on ColumbusBestBlog.com on Columbus Day I posted "Happy Columbus Day"  and got a comment.

"I am here from NYC and there there is a huge parade this is the largest city in America named for Columbus where’s the beef!?  no celebration? no festivities ? nothing in the Dispatch?”

No whining about there NOT being a Columbus Day Parade... no matter what city you are from or how big your cities Columbus Day Parade is.

.* Who works in downtown Columbus? City Employees.... Franklin County Employees.  State Employees...  even Federal Employees... Columbus Day is a federal holiday many have the day off...they are not downtown because it is  Columbus Day.
